UTICA, NY – On December 5, at around 4:00 PM, Utica Police responded to a peace officer call on the 500 block of Cottage Place. The call involved Angelica Crescenzo, 27, complying with a court order to retrieve her belongings and vacate the premises.
The situation escalated when Crescenzo allegedly brandished what appeared to be a handgun at officers, then held it to her head before retreating into the apartment. A perimeter was established, and crisis negotiators were brought in. After six hours, Crescenzo emerged, still armed, and was subdued by METRO SWAT using less lethal ammunition. The weapon was later identified as a replica pellet gun.
Crescenzo was initially taken to Wynn Hospital for evaluation under MHL 9.41. She was released on December 11 and taken into custody by the Utica Police Department. Crescenzo now faces charges stemming from the incident.
