BROOKLYN, NY – On Tuesday, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the arraignment of Terrence Reid, 43, of Hempstead, New York, on charges related to the sex trafficking of a child and other offenses.
According to the District Attorney, Reid allegedly coerced a 15-year-old girl into prostitution. The girl, facing challenges at home, had been communicating with Reid via Instagram.
In early 2022, Reid allegedly picked her up from her aunt’s home in Brooklyn. Reid then reportedly took the teenager, along with a 26-year-old woman, to hotels in East Orange, New Jersey, and Queens, New York, for the purpose of prostitution.
Reid allegedly forced both females to walk a known prostitution area on Pennsylvania Avenue, imposing a daily quota of $300. On May 25, the 15-year-old was assaulted and robbed during these activities. She later managed to escape and report the incidents to her case worker.
Reid was arraigned before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun, facing charges including sex trafficking of a child, attempted sex trafficking, and endangering the welfare of a child. Held without bail, he is set to return to court on January 31, 2024, and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the top count.
