TOMS RIVER, NJ – Rain, flooding, coastal flooding are expected across the New Jersey shore area on Sunday.

Overnight, residents can expect patchy fog amidst mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures dipping to around 45 degrees. A gentle south wind will blow at around 5 mph. Moving into Sunday, the state will see rain, and after 1 pm, there is a possibility of thunderstorms. Some of these storms may bring heavy rainfall.

Temperatures will reach a high near 62 degrees, but it will be breezy. South winds will increase from 10 to 15 mph to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon, with gusts potentially as high as 35 mph. The chance of precipitation is high at 90%, and new rainfall amounts could be between a half and three-quarters of an inch.

Sunday night will continue to be wet, with rain and possible thunderstorms. Again, heavy rain is a possibility in some storms. The temperature will drop to around 36 degrees, and it will remain breezy as the south wind of 20 to 25 mph shifts to the northwest after midnight. Wind gusts might reach up to 35 mph. The chance of precipitation remains at 100%, with new rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

By Monday, rain is likely, mainly before 10 am.
