NEW YORK CITY, NY – A 15-year-old boy was shot Wednesday evening in an altercation at Smile Smoke Shop, located upstairs from Scalinatella Restaurant on the Upper East Side.

NYPD responded to the incident, which occurred just before 6 p.m. The conflict escalated when two individuals attempted to jump over the counter, prompting an employee to discharge a firearm.

Surveillance footage revealed the scene, ending with the injured teen being aided by his group before they dispersed, leaving him behind.

Eyewitness accounts described the aftermath of the shooting, with the teen eventually collapsing near a local movie theater. NYPD Emergency Service Unit officers conducted a door-to-door search in the building for potential witnesses or fleeing employees.

The victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
