MINEOLA, N.Y. – Matthew Whyte, a 28-year-old resident of Laurelton, has been arraigned on charges related to a fatal crash on Southern State Parkway in November 2022.
Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the arraignment, which includes charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Vehicular Manslaughter in the First Degree, Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.
The crash, which occurred near Exit 32, resulted in the death of three individuals.
Whyte, accused of speeding and reckless driving, pleaded not guilty to the charges. His bail has been set at various amounts, totaling up to $400,000.
He is due back in court on December 12, and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
