Pennsylvania Man Charged for Assaulting Multiple Young Children

MCKEAN COUNTY, PA – After a two-day jury trial at the McKean County Courthouse, Sebastian Vancamp of Duke Center has been convicted on multiple counts of sex crimes against a minor.

The female victim, aged 11 and 12 during the period of abuse, reported encounters with Vancamp at various locations in Duke Center from December 2019 to December 2021, leading to his arrest.

Vancamp faced charges including two counts of Rape of Child, two counts of Statutory Sexual Assault, Corruption of Minors, and multiple counts of Indecent Assault. He was acquitted of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse charges. The jury recognized a pattern of conduct in his actions.

The case was investigated by Trooper Eric Thompson of the Pennsylvania State Police following a report to Childline by school personnel. District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer led the prosecution.

As part of his conviction, Vancamp is mandated to undergo assessment by the Sexual Offender Assessment Board to determine if he is a sexually violent predator, as required under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). His sentencing is scheduled for March 14, 2024.
