88-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed While Exiting Car on Shoulder in Seaford

SEAFORD, DE – An incident occurred on Sunday evening when an 88-year-old man was fatally struck by a car in Seaford. The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the crash, which took place on Sunday, around 9:15 p.m.

The victim, a Laurel resident, had stopped his 2019 maroon Dodge Grand Caravan on the right shoulder of Sussex Highway, south of Ockles Road.

He then stepped onto the southbound lane, where he was hit by an approaching 2005 gold Lincoln Town Car. The impact threw him onto the grass median, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 68-year-old man from Delmar, Delaware, was unharmed. The incident led to a road closure for approximately 3.5 hours during the investigation.
