LEHIGH ACRES, FL — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Shana Hudson, a 39-year-old mother from Lehigh Acres, for fraudulently reporting a residential burglary. Initially, Hudson reported on November 19 that her home was burglarized and Christmas gifts for her children were stolen.

In response to the reported burglary, East District Criminal Investigations Detectives, touched by the story and its timing, coordinated a donation drive with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 323 Lehigh Acres and LCSO’s Shop With a Cop program to provide new gifts for Hudson’s family.

However, a subsequent tip to SWFL Crime Stoppers led detectives to discover that the reported burglary was a fabrication. Evidence revealed that the allegedly stolen items were hidden at a family member’s residence in Lehigh Acres.

Based on their findings, detectives established probable cause to arrest Hudson for making a false report to law enforcement. Sheriff Carmine Marceno expressed disappointment in Hudson’s actions, especially during the holiday season. Following her arrest, Hudson was transported to the Marceno Motel to face charges related to her fraudulent claim.
