In an interview with CNN this week, Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said his campaign is not even close to over when he was asked why he wasn’t dropping out of the race. Christie, who has been polling consistently below 3% nationwide, said his campaign isn’t over yet, but is close to being over.
“Trump’s voters in New Hampshire said they are open to changing their minds,” Christie told CNN. “So, I know everybody wants to make this race over now, but it’s not over. It’s not even close to over.”
Many of his supporters in the Republican party disagree and are now calling on Christie to exit the race to allow more successful candidates like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis the spotlight and fundraising abilities to mount a serious campaign against Trump.
The bottom line is people who don’t like Trump don’t like Christie because they want to see him become the next President. They are simply cheering on the willful idiot who is not afraid to go out and bash the former president day in and day out.
Even American game show host Chuck Woolery is calling on Christie to drop out, saying, “Please, Chris Christie… please give it up. Your Presidential aspirations were DOA. At this point, you’re just embarrassing yourself.”
Vernon Jones, a Republican candidate for Georgia Governor, echoed Woolery’s statement.
Spence Rogers, a conservative fundraiser for GoRight Consulting, also called for Christie to drop out of the race.
He is now being approached by GOP megadonors, who are telling the former New Jersey governor to throw in the towel.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani mocked Christie, suggesting he would be the next to drop out of the race for “#2”.
Politico called on Christie to drop out last week, warning that his campaign now serves as nothing else, but a spoiler run.
