Police Seek Suspect Who Beat Cliffside Park Barber Inside His Shop

CLIFFSIDE PARK, NJ – A violent attack at The Way Barber Shop on Anderson Avenue left barber Willie Ocampo hospitalized on November 2. Ray Qassis, 33, identified as the assailant, remains at large, according to local authorities.

Ocampo sustained severe injuries, including two large cuts on his forehead and skull, after Qassis, wielding a metal baton, struck him repeatedly. The incident occurred across from the NJ TRANSIT bus garage. Following the attack, Ocampo required hospitalization.

Cliffside Park’s Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano reported that Qassis entered the barbershop, inquired if Ocampo was “Will”, and then proceeded to assault him with the baton. Qassis, previously a resident of North Bergen, fled the scene towards Fairview.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Qassis, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and related weapons offenses. Police describe Qassis as 5-foot-6 and 180 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and tattoos on both arms.
