Pittsburgh Police Honored for Preventing Potential School Shooting

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Pittsburgh Police Department has been recognized by the Uvalde Foundation For Kids for their crucial role in averting a potential school shooting at the Pittsburgh Milliones University Preparatory School. This commendation comes after their collaborative effort with the Pittsburgh Public Schools Police and the ATF.

On November 30, the joint operation led to the arrest of a juvenile and an adult. During the operation, authorities recovered four firearms, ammunition, magazines, and a Glock switch. The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a national school safety and advocacy nonprofit established following the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on May 24, 2022, plans to present a national award to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The award honors the officers and lead detectives for their significant contributions to protecting the school community.
