JACKSON, NJ – Police arrived at the scene after the sound of gunfire was reported in Jackson. When they arrived, they had found a mailbox with a bullet hole from a high-powered rifle.
Through their investigation, police learned that Moshe Tress, 49, of Lakewood, discharged a round from an unregistered assault rifle.

Tress was charged with possession of an assault firearm, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine, criminal mischief, and risking widespread injury or damage.
The incident occurred on November 14th. Tress is scheduled for a hearing on the matter on December 18th.
“This gentleman has never been in trouble in his life, and it was more misadventure and recklessness than anything intentional,” Tress’s lawyer, William Cunningham, said, according to Shtetl.org.
