AR ROCKAWAY, NY — A man who went on a stabbing spree inside a Far Rockaway, Queens home was shot and killed by police, but not before multiple people were dead and injured.

Upon arrival, police officers engaged a 38-year-old male suspect. The confrontation escalated when the suspect stabbed one officer in the neck and chest and the other in the head. In response, one officer shot the assailant, ending the attack. The suspect was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Due to an active fire at the scene, initial entry into the residence was delayed. After extinguishing the fire, three more victims were discovered inside. These individuals, a 44-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy, and a man in his 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two injured police officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. They are reported to be in critical but stable condition.
“I really have to commend them they did an excellent job,” said Chief Jeffrey Maddrey after the incdident. “They could’ve easily let this person walk past them with his luggage, but instead they stopped, asked a couple of questions, tried to gain some intel before they walked right up in there. Unfortunately, they were met with the perpetrator in this incident, he went right at him.”
This tragic event has left a total of four victims and the perpetrator deceased, with one individual in critical condition and two police officers also critically injured. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to this violent incident.
