NEWARK, N.J. – Antoine Hawkins, a 31-year-old Newark resident, has admitted his involvement in two separate shootings and various drug offenses, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.

Hawkins pleaded guilty on Tuesday, to charges including possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, firearm possession, heroin distribution, and a firearm offense linked to drug trafficking. The admissions were made before U.S. District Judge Katharine S. Hayden.

Court records and statements indicate that Hawkins was involved in shootings on August 13 and August 18, 2020, in Newark. Video evidence and ballistics linked him to both incidents.

On September 16, 2020, Hawkins was found with a loaded 9-millimeter pistol and heroin. His residence also contained additional ammunition and drugs.

Hawkins faces significant prison time and fines. Sentencing is set for April 2, 2024.
