LAS VEGAS, NV – In a grisly crime, Freddie Wright, 43, faces charges including open murder, arson, and destroying evidence following the death of Janell Bowen. Wright allegedly strangled Bowen over a suspected romantic affair, then transported and burned her body.
The incident came to light on November 21, when Henderson police and fire departments responded to a fire in a metal drum on the 1700 block of Sunset Road. After extinguishing the fire, authorities discovered a woman’s body inside the drum.
According to local media reports citing police statements, Wright confessed to confronting Bowen over a “suspicious phone call.” He admitted to strangling her, wrapping her body in blankets, and attempting to conceal it from their children. Wright reportedly transported the body in his minivan, later transferring it to a rental car. He eventually placed the body in a trash can at an abandoned hotel lot, doused it with gasoline, and set it on fire.
This case has shocked the community, with Wright now detained at the Henderson Detention Center as the investigation continues.
