Buffalo Resident Sentenced for Manslaughter in 2023 Shooting

BUFFALO, NY – On Thursday morning, Marlon D. Servance, Jr., a 23-year-old Buffalo resident, received a 4 to 12 years prison sentence for manslaughter and weapon possession.

State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens presided over the sentencing.

The incident occurred on May 23, when Servance engaged in a shooting on Jefferson Avenue and Best Street, leading to a chase that ended with one dead.

His actions caused the death of 58-year-old pedestrian Clara “Claire” Gomez, who was struck by a vehicle fleeing Servance’s gunfire.

Servance pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree on August 4. He also lost his driving privileges as part of the sentence.
