WHITE PLAINS, NY – Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah reported the sentencing of 18-year-old Tommy Rivera from New Rochelle. Rivera received a 19-year prison term for the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Julian Oliveros in January 2022.

Rivera, prosecuted as an adolescent offender, pleaded guilty on March 17 to Manslaughter in the First Degree. He will undergo five years of post-release supervision.

On January 25, 2022, Rivera, then 16, used a ghost gun to shoot Oliveros four times in New Rochelle. The incident, captured on surveillance, led to Oliveros’ death at Westchester Medical Center.

The New Rochelle Police Department arrested Rivera near Glen Place and Beechwood Avenue.

Police found the murder weapon and tools used to build ghost guns in his home.
