MINEOLA, N.Y. – The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office announced the conviction of Floyd McNeil, a known Bloods gang member, for a 2020 murder and attempted murder in Freeport.

Floyd McNeil, 27, of Hempstead, was found guilty of second-degree murder and other charges related to a fatal shooting in Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

The jury delivered their verdict after a trial that started on November 14, and two days of deliberation. McNeil is scheduled for sentencing on January 31 and faces up to 65 years to life in prison.

The incident occurred on November 28, 2020, where 21-year-old Taffarie Haughton and another 19-year-old were attacked in the park’s bathroom by several gang members.
