16-Year-Old Arrested After Street Fight Ends in Gunfire

UTICA, NY — A 16-year-old suspect was charged following a shooting incident on Henry Street in Utica, as confirmed by local police. The incident occurred on November 27, 2023, around 3:15 PM, when Utica Police responded to reports of a fight and subsequent gunfire.

Officers arrived at the 500 block of Henry Street to find several individuals engaged in a physical altercation. One person approached the officers, claiming to have been shot at by an individual who had fled the scene. The crowd was dispersed, and a thorough investigation commenced.

During the investigation, police discovered two spent casings and two live rounds on the road. Interviews with witnesses led to the identification of a suspect. On November 28, investigators from the GIVE Unit and Criminal Investigations Division contacted the suspect, who, being a minor, agreed to surrender with a parent’s assistance.

The juvenile, whose identity is protected due to age, faces charges related to the shooting. The Utica Police Department continues to investigate the incident and encourages anyone with additional information to come forward.
