SAYREVILLE, NJ — The Jon Bon Jovi Rest Area, located at Exit 124 on the Garden State Parkway, is set to close for extensive rebuilding and upgrades. This renovation is part of New Jersey’s larger initiative to modernize rest stops along the Garden State Parkway, enhancing amenities and services for travelers.
The rest stop will remain closed until completion in 2024.
In 2021, New Jersey took the unique step of naming several rest stops after famous natives, celebrating the state’s rich cultural heritage. The Jon Bon Jovi Rest Area was one of these, paying tribute to the iconic rock musician and New Jersey native. Bon Jovi, born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, has deep ties to the state, with his music career significantly influenced by his upbringing and experiences in the Garden State.
The planned upgrades for the Jon Bon Jovi Rest Area include modern facilities, improved food and beverage options, and enhanced rest areas, aiming to provide a more comfortable and convenient experience for travelers.
These improvements reflect New Jersey’s commitment to maintaining high standards for its transportation infrastructure and honoring the state’s cultural icons.
The closure of the rest area will necessitate alternate arrangements for regular commuters and travelers. State officials have assured the public that clear signage and information will be provided to guide them to nearby facilities during the renovation period.
Once completed, the revamped Jon Bon Jovi Rest Area is expected to stand as a modernized facility. The project was part of a $250 million project announced by former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in 2017.
The reopening date, yet to be announced, is eagerly anticipated by fans of the musician and regular parkway users alike.
