Police Pursuit Ends in Deadly Crash

CHESAPEAKE, VA – A police pursuit involving a Chesapeake Police Officer and a suspect in a gray Subaru sedan ended in a fatal motor vehicle accident on Friday.

The incident began at approximately 1:16 p.m. when a Chesapeake Police Officer attempted to stop the Subaru on Military Highway South near Interstate 464 for a lane violation and a registration issue. The driver of the Subaru did not comply, leading to a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Military Highway South and George Washington Highway North, where the suspect’s vehicle collided with an uninvolved white Chevrolet SUV. The male suspect driving the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the Chevrolet SUV was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are currently not considered life-threatening.

The Chesapeake Police Department’s CRASH Team is actively investigating the site of the accident. As a result, all lanes at the intersection are closed to traffic while the investigation is underway.
