Brooksville Man Arrested After Confessing to Murder

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A Brooksville man, R W Resca Jr., has been charged with 2nd Degree Homicide following a murder confession to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began on November 21, just before 3:30 p.m., when a caller reported a suspicious person and a possible deceased individual near Cortez Boulevard. Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue units responded to the scene, where a Fire Rescue Captain confirmed the presence of a deceased individual in the early stages of decomposition, showing signs of homicidal violence.

Major Case detectives and Forensic Science technicians, along with the medical examiner, conducted a thorough investigation at the scene. The identity of the deceased was quickly established, leading to the identification and questioning of a person of interest.

Within 10 hours of the initial call, R W Resca Jr. confessed to detectives about the murder and disposal of the body. Following his confession, Resca Jr. was arrested and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
