Police Arrest Two Fugitives Wanted in Deadly Maryland Shooting

GAITHERSBURG, MD — In a significant development, the Montgomery County Department of Police has arrested two suspects in connection with the homicide of 22-year-old Alan Garnica. Kenes Yair Guevara, 19, and Osman Antonio Maldonado, 20, were taken into custody on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, following their alleged involvement in the fatal shooting.

The incident occurred on November 10 in the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle in Gaithersburg, where Garnica and another victim were shot. Garnica was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim survived with non-life-threatening injuries and received medical attention at a local hospital.

Guevara and Maldonado were identified as suspects through the investigative efforts of the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division homicide detectives. Maldonado was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Guevara, also a resident of Gaithersburg, was apprehended later the same day and faces similar charges.

Both suspects are currently held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and are awaiting their bond hearings. This case marks a critical juncture in the investigation of Garnica’s death, bringing a measure of progress in the pursuit of justice for the victim and his family.
