TOMS RIVER, NJ – A burglary incident turned violent at around 4:00 PM today at the corner of Madison and Lexington Avenues. Toms River Police were alerted to the scene following a report of a burglary in progress.

The victim, a mailman, recounted that he observed two individuals in hoodies while delivering mail. Upon returning to his mail truck, these individuals assaulted him, striking him on the head and causing him to fall. They proceeded to kick him and fled with his belongings down Madison Avenue toward Hooper Avenue.

Police have released a photo of the suspected vehicle involved in the incident, which is believed to have carried three individuals: the two assailants and a driver. This incident mirrors similar occurrences reported across the state.
