NYC Woman Arrested for Throwing Hot Coffee, Phone at Muslim Man

BROOKLYN, NY – The New York City Police Department has reported the arrest of a woman in connection with a hate crime assault that occurred earlier this month in Brooklyn.

Hadasa Bozakkaravani, a 48-year-old female from 300 Ashland Place in Brooklyn, NY, was apprehended on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, within the 88th Precinct. She faces multiple charges, including attempted hate crime assault on a person under 11, attempted reckless injury, reckless endangerment, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, attempted menacing as a hate crime, criminal mischief, harassment, and attempted menacing.

This arrest follows an incident reported on November 7, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m. A 40-year-old male victim was at Edmonds Playground, near 196 DeKalb Avenue, when an unknown female confronted him. The assailant reportedly made anti-Islamic statements before assaulting the victim by throwing her cellphone and a hot cup of coffee at him. The victim did not sustain injuries during this attack.
