ORANGE COUNTY, NY – Angel Lahoz, a 35-year-old resident of Newburgh, was convicted on Monday, for Burglary in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.
The verdict, delivered after a jury trial in Orange County Court, could result in Lahoz facing up to 15 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for February 5, 2024, and he currently resides in Orange County Jail without bail.
The case unfolded on January 2, when a Newburgh homeowner encountered Lahoz, a relative, in her living room rummaging through her belongings.
Lahoz, who had forcibly entered the home by breaking a bedroom window, assaulted the homeowner before police intervention led to his apprehension.
District Attorney David M. Hoovler commended the City of Newburgh Police for their handling of the investigation and subsequent arrest of Lahoz.
