BROOKLYN, NY — A tragic incident in Brooklyn resulted in the arrest of Luis Collado, 52, on charges of murder, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon. The event took place on Friday, November 17, at approximately 6:58 PM, with Collado being apprehended the following day, November 18, at around 5:40 PM.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 17 Louisiana Avenue. On arrival, they discovered Rosa Acevedo, 43, and her son Gustavo Devora Acevedo, 26, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Rosa Acevedo was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son was transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Luis Collado, residing at the same address, emerged as a person of interest and was subsequently taken into custody. The police recovered a firearm in connection with the incident. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation, with the 75th Precinct leading the efforts.
