Trenton Man Convicted in 2021 Shooting Death

TRENTON, NJ – Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported the conviction of Blake Pittman, a 32-year-old Trenton man, for the murder of Pablo Herrera Chun, aged 53, on July 14, 2021.

The jury found Pittman guilty on all counts, including murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, and certain persons not to possess a weapon.

On the evening of July 14, 2021, Trenton Police responded to a Shot Spotter activation at 43 North Stockton Street at 8:39 pm. Officers found Herrera Chun with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Pittman was arrested on July 28, 2021, in Bensalem, by the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

The four-week trial, presided over by Mercer County Superior Court Judge J. Adam Hughes, revealed that Pittman intended to shoot an individual in a vehicle but mistakenly hit Herrera Chun, who was walking nearby.
