Annapolis Police Department Introduces Crime Suppression Plan

ANNAPOLIS, MD – In response to a recent increase in violent crimes, the Annapolis Police Department has launched a comprehensive crime suppression plan.

This initiative was announced following an incident on Tuesday, where gunfire was heard near a funeral repast on Clay Street near Obery Court. No injuries were reported.

The crime plan focuses on deterring and preventing violent crimes, particularly shootings. A new unit, the Special Enforcement Action Team (SEAT), has been formed to target repeat offenders, serve warrants for violent crimes, seize illegal firearms, gather intelligence, and dismantle drug trafficking organizations.

Increased patrol presence and direct community engagement are also key components of the plan. The activities of SEAT and other units will be supervised by Captains Justin Klinedinst, Amy Miguez, and Lamar Howard to ensure compliance and effectiveness.

Police Chief Ed Jackson commended the efforts of officers on the frontlines and reiterated the department’s dedication to ensuring public safety in Annapolis.
