FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ – The New Jersey State Police, Troop K, continues its investigation into the 1970 homicide of 15-year-old Alice Lezan of Franklin Township.
On November 14, 1970, State Police discovered Lezan’s remains, bound with rope inside a red sleeping bag, at a 60-foot drop near Camp Smith, off Bear Mountain Road, in Cortlandt. Initially spotted in March 1970 by a boy walking in the woods, the validity of his claim was only recognized later that year.
Lezan’s identification was confirmed through dental records. Her death was officially ruled a homicide.
She was last seen on September 26, 1969, near a hotel on West 48th Street, New York City, wearing gray and white pants and a purple shirt. Lezan was reportedly last seen with a man suspected of attempting to lure her into prostitution.
