Middlesex County Man Sentenced for Threatening Synagogue Attack

CAMDEN, NJ – On Tuesday, Omar Alkattoul, 19, of Sayreville, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for transmitting threats to attack a synagogue and Jewish individuals.

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentence, imposed by U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn.

Alkattoul, who pleaded guilty to transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce, used social media to disseminate a manifesto titled “When Swords Collide,” explicitly targeting Jews.

His actions led to a statewide alert and heightened community concern.

In addition to the prison term, Alkattoul is subject to three years of supervised release.
