DAVENPORT, FL – Early Monday morning, November 13, 2023, a car burglary spree in Davenport’s Preservation Pointe neighborhood led to a high-speed crash, resulting in the arrest of one suspect and hospitalization of another.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene around 3:28 am after reports of a white male and female attempting to break into multiple vehicles. The suspects were seen fleeing in a white 2006 Cadillac CTS.
When deputies located and tried to stop the Cadillac, the driver accelerated, leading to a chase within the neighborhood. The pursuit ended when the Cadillac collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle.
Sheriff Grady Judd commented on the incident, highlighting the recklessness of fleeing from law enforcement, especially at high speeds in residential areas. He expressed relief that no innocent bystanders were harmed.
The driver, identified as 37-year-old Timothy Allen Hogue of Apopka, and the passenger, 31-year-old Rebecca Kozub of Ocoee, were both injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital. Post-treatment, Hogue admitted to the burglaries and implicated Kozub as the instigator. He also confessed to fleeing out of panic.
