WASHINGTON, D.C. — A tragic shooting in Southeast Washington on Sunday afternoon has resulted in the death of a woman, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities.

The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the 1300 block of Congress Street. Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesperson for the police department, reported that the woman was found unconscious at the scene of the shooting. Efforts to save her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead.
