BROOKLYN, NY – The New York City Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a hate crime assault. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the 88th Precinct, specifically at Edmonds Playground near 196 DeKalb Avenue.
On Monday, November 7th at around 12:30 PM, a 40-year-old male victim was accosted by an unknown female who directed anti-Islamic statements at him. The suspect then assaulted the victim using her cell phone and a hot cup of coffee.
Fortunately, the victim did not sustain injuries during the attack.
The female suspect is described as having a light complexion and a small build. She was last seen wearing a black and white baseball hat, black sunglasses, a gray scarf, a black zip-up jacket, a black fanny pack, black sweatpants, and white sneakers.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is actively investigating the incident. Members of the public with information regarding the suspect or the incident are encouraged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
