YORK, PA – Jelani Gassama and Joseph Lugo-Nazario, both 19-year-old residents of York City, have been charged with a series of burglaries and thefts after a concerted investigation by York City detectives and cooperation with local police agencies.
Spanning several months from late August to November, the duo, along with an unidentified third suspect, is believed to have committed numerous overnight burglaries of convenience stores and other small businesses, resulting in significant losses in cash and merchandise.
Gassama, already in custody on unrelated charges, faces 21 counts of burglary and 4 counts of motor vehicle theft.
The burglaries persisted after his arrest, with Lugo-Nazario implicated in the continuing crimes.
He was apprehended on November 8 by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and charged with 31 counts of burglary and 5 counts of motor vehicle theft. The search for the third suspect continues.
