ELICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Police Department, under the direction of Police Chief Gregory Der, recently announced the arrest of two Baltimore men in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Columbia last October.

On the evening of Oct. 16, at approximately 9:55 p.m., police were dispatched to the 6000 block of Foreland Garth after reports of gunfire.

A 30-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound was discovered outside the Exxon gas station and was subsequently transported for treatment, later being released.

Shortly thereafter, two additional gunshot victims arrived at the Howard County Medical Center. Dylan Migel Perez, 24, succumbed to his injuries, while another 22-year-old male was treated and discharged.

The breakthrough in the case came during a separate investigation into a July 16 robbery on Melba Road in Ellicott City, where a juvenile reported being robbed at gunpoint. On Oct. 19, detectives executed search warrants in Columbia related to this robbery and seized multiple illegally possessed firearms, including partially assembled “ghost guns.” One recovered firearm was linked to the triple shooting that resulted in Perez’s death and the wounding of the other victims.
