TOMS RIVER, NJ – Cattus Island County Park invites residents to participate in its annual Gingerbread House Contest with this year’s theme “Out in Nature”. The Cooper Environmental Center will accept entries from December 13 through December 17.
The competition, open to multiple age categories ranging from youth to adults, will allow participants to exhibit their creativity within the dimensions of a 12-inch square mounting board. Judges will assign an entry number to each gingerbread house to ensure anonymity and fairness during the judging process.
Winners will be selected in each age-based category and top entries will receive ribbons and prizes. In addition to the judged awards, visitors can cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award while all entries are displayed between December 20 and December 31.
The contest rules state that each participant is allowed one entry and all submissions must be picked up from January 3 to January 7. Ocean County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) noted that it will photograph the entries for promotional use on social media and other platforms.
Participants are encouraged to visit Cattus Island County Park’s Cooper Environmental Center to drop off their entries and join in the community’s festive spirit.
