TOMS RIVER, NJ – Toms River Democrat Ben Giovine, who was caught drunk driving in his Prius on his way home from wild night at the Stone Pony a few years ago, has been defending himself from criticism while on the campaign trail.
“It was an unfortunate and regrettable event,” Giovine said after he was pulled over for DUI in Neptune Township while
driving his hybrid vehicle home from a night out in Asbury Park.
According to police, Giovine stumbled on his words during a field sobriety check, struggling to get past the letter D in the alphabet.
Giovine was able to hide his drunk driving arrest from the public view. At the time, he was serving as a member of the Toms River Regional School Board.
It wasn’t until fellow Democrats sent his arrest record to local media outlets that the public became aware of Giovine’s drunken escapade.
When not going to concerts, which he said is one of his hobbies, and driving home drunk, Givione is a key staffer for New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim, a radically left-leaning politician who supports the left’s climate agenda, gun bans, and the radical agenda that seeks to take away your gas-powered cars, your gas stoves and your gas appliances.
Now, he’s asking Toms River residents to look beyond his past, including his past as a radical Democrat who champions gun control, supports the Biden administration’s offshore wind agenda, and radically left-leaning policies.
For Giovine to defeat Republican Dan Rodrick, he is counting on a low vote turnout and support from the town’s biggest voting bloc of Orthodox Jewish votes. Last week, Givoine traveled to Lakewood for an interview with the Lakewood News Network, an ‘anti Dan Rodrick’ outlet that has supported current Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill in the past.
Giovine’s actions weren’t the only regrettable ones in the election. His running mate, Rhetta Jackson-Fair, has a long criminal history, according to the state municipal court database. Charges against her include assault, check fraud, and theft.
Tonight, Giovine is continuing to rally votes at a Toms River mosque that has recently condemned Toms River officials, including Councilman Dan Rodrick for their condemnation of the terrorist group Hamas, after hamas terrorists murdered 1,500 innocent people, including Americans on October 7th.
