TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Republicans are claiming New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy knew of Orsted’s plan to pull the plug and sink its two wind farm projects over a week ago and he didn’t tell anyone about it.

New Jersey Senators Anthony M. Bucco and Michael Testa criticized Governor Murphy’s administration for prior knowledge of Orsted’s offshore wind project cancellation, alleging a breach of transparency.

On October 31, Senators Anthony M. Bucco and Michael Testa voiced concerns over the Murphy administration’s advance knowledge of Orsted’s decision to halt an offshore wind project. The statement highlighted the administration’s alleged pattern of withholding information from the Legislature, drawing parallels to past incidents of nondisclosure.

The Senators expressed alarm over the administration’s one-week lead on Orsted’s announcement, suggesting the delay could be politically motivated to align with post-election timing. They emphasized the need for legislative hearings and called for a shift in leadership to better serve the interests of New Jersey residents.

This recent development adds to the ongoing discourse on government transparency and accountability within the state’s political landscape. The Senators’ joint statement has prompted calls for further investigation into the matter and a re-evaluation of communication practices between the state’s executive administration and the Legislature.

Phil Murphy did not respond to these allegations.
