ELYRIA, OH – Elyria Police Department (EPD) has launched a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting that occurred on the 200 block of 8th Street on Sunday.
The incident took place around 11:04 p.m. and involved gunfire directed at a car, killing a 27-year-old woman and injuring a 25-year-old woman.
Both victims were quickly transported to University Hospitals of Elyria. The 27-year-old woman was pronounced dead, though her name is being withheld pending family notification.
The injured 25-year-old woman was later moved to University Hospitals of Cleveland for further medical care and was subsequently interviewed by detectives.
