Suspect Charged in August Murder of Pennsylvania Man in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – A 26-year-old Brooklyn resident was apprehended and charged on Sunday in connection to a fatal shooting incident that occurred in August within the 79 Precinct boundaries.

Thomas Nimmons, residing at 303 Vernon Avenue, faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon following an extended police investigation.

On the early morning of August 12, at around 02:43 hours, authorities received a distress call regarding a male shot at the mentioned address, known as Vernon Houses. The police, upon reaching the scene, discovered a 29-year-old male, later identified as Dawuand Darrien from Piteston, PA, in the building’s lobby with a bullet wound to the chest.

Emergency services promptly transported Darrien to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where medical professionals declared him dead.
