MILLSBORO, DE – A 77-year-old Millsboro resident, Bruce Peterson, died on October 26 from injuries sustained in a pedestrian crash the previous night. Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

On October 25, at approximately 9:23 p.m., Peterson was walking westbound along the shoulder of Long Neck Road eastbound, east of School Lane Road. Simultaneously, a black 2014 Chrysler 300 and a white 2015 Ford Escort were traveling eastbound on the same road. Peterson, who was not carrying a light or wearing reflective clothing, entered the eastbound lane. The Chrysler braked rapidly and was rear-ended by the Ford as the front of the Chrysler struck Peterson.

Peterson was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was admitted for life-threatening injuries. He died the following day. The drivers of the Chrysler and Ford, a 37-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman respectively, both from Millsboro, were not injured in the crash.

The eastbound lane of Long Neck Road was closed for approximately three hours as authorities investigated the scene and cleared the roadway.
