SILVER SPRING, MD — A 15-year-old has been charged with Threats of Mass Violence following a bomb threat against Paint Branch High School on Thursday, October 26. The Montgomery County Department of Police’s 3rd District Investigative Section identified the individual responsible.
At 10:36 a.m., 3rd District officers, K-9 units, and Community Engagement Officers responded to a phone-based bomb threat at the school. The building was evacuated and searched, leading authorities to determine the threat was not credible. Students, teachers, and staff subsequently returned to their regular activities.
Detectives identified the 15-year-old with the assistance of Montgomery County Public Schools staff. The individual admitted responsibility and has been released to the custody of the parents.
The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services will review the case.
