Five Dead in Shooting at Home Outside Clinton

CLINTON, N.C. – Early Thursday, deputies discovered five individuals dead from gunshot wounds in a home off Garland Highway outside Clinton.

The deceased have been identified as Alfonza Jeffers, 73, of Clinton; Dagoberto Lopez, 33, of Garland; Hector Lopez, 39, of Garland; Lamar Williams, 58, of Rose Hill; and Jamie Rowland, 47, of Clinton.

Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton announced that deputies had responded to the home shortly before 1 a.m. following a homicide report.

The homicides are not believed to be linked to any other recent incidents in Clinton.

The call to authorities came after someone had spoken to a victim around 11 p.m. and later found the bodies upon visiting the home, as stated by Capt. Eric Pope during a press briefing. No information regarding a suspect is available at this time.
