HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – On Wednesday, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor, Renée M. Robeson, announced that a jury declared Jose V. Jarquin-Jarquin, 43, of High Bridge, guilty of various charges, including first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. The trial took place under the supervision of the Honorable Christopher J. Garrenger, J.S.C.
The conviction arises from a collaborative investigation between the High Bridge Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
An eleven-year-old female reported being sexually assaulted by Mr. Jarquin-Jarquin. Her disclosure to peers and a school counselor triggered the investigation that culminated in his arrest.
Upon sentencing, the accused faces at least twenty-five years in state prison with a subsequent 25-year parole ineligibility. The maximum penalty he could receive is a life sentence as stipulated by the Jessica Lunsford Act. Additionally, he will undergo Megan’s Law Registration, an Avenel Evaluation, and be under Parole Supervision for Life.
The sentencing is scheduled for January 26, 2024, with the defendant currently detained at the Warren County Correctional Center.
