FAIRFIELD, NJ – On Thursday, Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced the charges against Arthur Armstead, 30, of Fairfield Township.
Armstead was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, and other related offenses.
These charges stem from a mass shooting incident that took place on May 22, 2021, on East Commerce Street in Fairfield Township. Three victims died, and eleven others were injured in the incident.
Armstead was earlier charged for obstruction and hindering apprehension after the shooting and allegedly fled to Delaware. He then moved to Atlantic City, where he hid in a casino hotel. Following this, Armstead turned himself in to the State Police at the Bridgeton barracks.
Recently, more information emerged, directly linking Armstead to the shooting. Consequently, he faces multiple charges as detailed in complaint-warrant W-2023-001516-0601.
