Venezuelan National Charged for Attack With Nail

ERIE COUNTY, NY – On Thursday, Daniel A. Narvaez-Velasqu, 35, originally from Venezuela, was arraigned before Amherst Town Court Justice Kara Buscaglia.

He faces charges of Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Menacing in the Second Degree.

On Sunday, August 27, at around 6:25 p.m., Amherst Police attended to a reported altercation at a Flint Road hotel. Narvaez-Velasqu allegedly lunged at another individual with a nail during an argument, causing the victim to fear for their safety.

Currently an asylum seeker residing at the hotel, Narvaez-Velasqu was given an appearance ticket for a later date.

He is scheduled to return on Wednesday, November 15, at 10:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. If convicted of the primary charge, he could face up to 4 years in prison.
