Arrests Made in Connection to Hate Crime Assault in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – Two individuals have been arrested and charged related to a hate crime assault that occurred in the 68th Precinct area on Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Gabi Zaibak, a 28-year-old male residing at 1524 East 66 Street, Brooklyn, NY, and Eddie Zaibak, a 26-year-old male from the same address, were both arrested.

Charges against both individuals include Assault- Hate Crime, Aggravated Harassment- Hate Crime, and Menacing- Hate Crime. The investigation is ongoing.

The New York City Police Department is also seeking the public’s help in identifying nine additional individuals related to this incident. The assault took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at about 11:15 p.m., near 438 86 Street. A group of unidentified males approached three victims, making anti-ethnic/religious statements and physically assaulting one of them. The assailants then fled in a southbound direction on 4 Avenue towards 86 Street.

One of the victims, an 18-year-old male, sustained minor injuries and sought medical attention privately. The other two victims, a 19-year-old male and a 21-year-old male, were not injured. The NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation.
