LAUREL – A former Powerball and Mega Millions player from Laurel ventured into Racetrax and walked away with $36,400 on her first try.

The Anne Arundel County woman purchased a $24 quick-pick ticket on October 16 and won big using a $1 Superfecta Box bet. She chose four horses for the race, and the computer-generated game selected the winning numbers 3, 7, 9, and 10.

The player mentioned her fondness for odd numbers, and was delighted to see 3, 7, and 9 among the winning numbers on her ticket.

In a Superfecta Box bet, a player picks at least four horses to cross the finish line in any order. The cost of the ticket corresponds to the number of possible combinations, which is why her ticket totaled $24 for one race.

Employed as a gas station clerk, the woman is still deciding how to allocate her winnings, although she mentioned that the money will likely go towards paying bills.

The winning ticket was bought at Brock Bridge BP at 3581 Fort Meade Road in Laurel. The gas station will receive a $364 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning ticket of $10,000 or more. This bonus equals 1% of the prize money.

The woman expressed her enthusiasm for her new-found gaming interest, stating she might try Racetrax again as she found it to be “a lot of fun.”
