BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A 24-year-old Newark man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of burglaries, including an attempted armed home invasion.
Brick Township Chief of Police, David Forrester, announced the arrest of Ahmad Singletary, who was in possession of a handgun during an attempted home burglary on Royal Dr. on September 15, 2023. Singletary is charged with attempted armed burglary, among other crimes.
The arrest is the outcome of a combined investigation by the Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigations Unit. Detective Brian Farnkopf led the investigation, which identified Singletary as a suspect in multiple other incidents.
Brick Mayor Lisa Crate commended the police department on their investigation that spanned multiple counties.
“Brick has the finest police force in the state and we make sure they have the resources they need. This most recent arrest sends another strong message to criminals,” Mayor Crate said, “Commit a crime in Brick and you will get caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
In total, Singletary faces multiple charges for incidents on September 15, 17, and 25. These include 13 counts of burglary, six counts of theft, and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
On September 25, 2023, a warrant was issued for Singletary’s arrest in relation to the burglaries and thefts on September 17. He was apprehended on the same day in Newark and was found in possession of a vehicle stolen from Brick Township.
